Overall size: 35.4 × 35.4 cm; Bristol board containing the design: 25.5 × 25.5 cm
In this project, we were assigned "to create the illusion of color transparency using geometric color shapes" that would contain at least nine different overlaps.
I costructed my design out of construction paper and origami paper. For the vertical and horizontal lines, I cut of strips of paper; to represent the transparent overlaps, I cut out squares. I pasted these strips and squares on Bristol board using rubber cement, and in turn I rubber-cemented the Bristol board onto a square of black Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing Paper. The assignment specified the precise dimensions for the Bristol board and the black paper. We had the option of using black or gray paper, and I preferred using black to enhance the contrast.
